"Streams / chat windows do not show up at all - I need to know what I have to install for this to work."

Stream Issues
Camstreams uses Windows Media technology to provide the video and audio stream. This means you will need a copy of Windows Media Player version 6.4 or greater installed on your computer.

Windows Media player works on both PC and Macintosh platforms. There are different versions which are compatible, but if you have one of the following operating systems, you should be able to watch Camstreams streams: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT4, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP Home/Professional, Windows Server 2003, MacOS 8, 9.1 and X.

If the stream does not appear when you go to a broadcast page, try downloading the latest player available to your operating system. Click the button below to take you to the Microsoft website which will determine the version you require. If this does not fix the problem - try using a different web browser such as FireFox to view the site and let us know of the problem. It might be that the computer you are using does not allow you to install plugins, due to a local security policy. You may or may not be able to change this depending on if you have the rights to do so.

Chat issues
Firstly, not all broadcasters have Camstreams Chat enabled. This might be because their cam is not an interactive one (e.g. just scenery), or they may choose to only enable it during the times they are able to respond. If this is the case, you will see a description of the stream next to the streaming video and no chat room.

If, however, you just see a big blank space next to the stream, this sounds like a problem. Our live chat system has been developed to be as accessible as Windows Media. It utilises Flash technology from Adobe. We require you to have version 7 of the player (or above) for the chat application to work. You can get this for Windows 98, ME, 2000, 2003 and XP, Mac os 9 and X and some flavours of Unix/Linux.

Click the button below to go to Adobe's website and download the Flash player.
